IT Infrastructure Engineer

What's the role?

The purpose of the role is to understand and execute Target Infrastructure Landscape (TIL) projects. The role involves implementing, assessing, and managing Infrastructure Lifecycle Management tasks. The job holder needs to be able to articulate opinions and participate in team communication.

• Provide onsite troubleshooting and support user requests through service tickets in a timely manner, within the agreed SLA and processes in Singapore (SG) as a member of SG & Asia IT Onsite team
• Contribute and collaborate as technical expert on areas relevant to IT Delivery operations, in supporting local and regional users
• Administer Microsoft offerings using Active Directory and software distribution tools
• Support workstation / laptop / tablets / mobile data / smartphones / network equipment
• Provide onsite support for Global IT servers and network components hosted locally in the country
• Configure network printers in accordance with Global IT standards
• Support Microsoft Office 365 cloud and client applications
• Asset management of Hilti IT equipment and mobile phones using software and tool provided
• Manage and coordinate local projects and be responsible for Global IT rollout in country
• Manage local infrastructure changes and initiatives
• Coordination of local external IT service providers
• Compliance with all relevant regulations and company agreements
• Provide out of hours support when and if required
• Travel occasionally to Hilti sites in SG
• Be the advocate of IT with the management team

What does the role involve?

Functional Expertise

  • Strong workstation, laptop, tablet hardware support experience
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, computer hardware / software / tools, network troubleshooting (Wireless, LAN and TCP / IP) and Server Room hardware
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a globally oriented IT team
  • At least 5 years proven track record in a support role including experience in customer support
  • At least 2 years of stakeholder and management experience
  • Good and supportive telephone manner and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and an independent team member
  • Good coaching skills. Able to produce user guides, share IT knowledge with colleagues, improve user experience for all
Understanding the Business
  • Able to prioritize based on business needs
  • Has a clear understanding of the role of IT in the business environment as business partner in achieving the business targets
  • Applies Hilti core values and compliance standards when dealing with IT suppliers
  • Relates to the business reasons when driving Hilti IT Strategy
  • Be the advocate of IT to business users

Understanding and defining what needs to be done

  • Clear service orientation and able to adapt oneself to newest technology and service innovation
  • Able to quickly demonstrate high levels of motivation and competence in IT tasks
  • Focus on opportunities, proactive ownership and avoid problems (innovator)

What you need is:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent education. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) > 3.0 or similar grading is a must 
  • Experienced in administering and maintaining workstation / laptop / tablet
  • Microsoft Operating Systems and Office experience and training
  • Ability and open to local commuting to support all Hilti SG sites
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English is a must

What we don't need:

  • Programming language skills
  • Server administration
  • Not enthusiastic about finding the best possible solution for the users
  • Weakness in teamwork or interpersonal cooperation / communication
