What's the role?

We are looking for a strong profile, people and thought leader as a Regional Business Developer – Data Center covering our rapidly expanding and fast-paced Data Center business across South APAC (India, South East Asia, Australia/New Zealand), itself arguably the fastest growing region in this industry globally. You would be based out of Singapore/Kuala Lumpur (to be defined) and shape and drive our regional account engagement activities for our most critical and promising accounts across Asia in all techno-commercial subject matters. Objective of this role is strengthen our relationships with key DC owners/operators, consultants, EPCs and contractors and enhance our range of standards, specifications and, ultimately, sales of our top accounts. With closely collaborating with sales, technical, and marketing colleagues as well as customers across the globe with focus on Asia, you are expected to navigate across borders and cultures effectively.

What does the role involve?

You will be responsible to end-to-end shape and drive the (i) Account development strategy, the (ii) Pursuit of techno-commercial offering and proposals and lead our (iii) Internal Collaboration and Coordination activities, all in order to maximize impact of you and your role in this buzzing market environment and industry segment. This entails in more detail:

Account development strategy & its execution
You understand the DC market inside out and smoothly engage with all stakeholders of various industry player types. Based on this context, you shape our regional top account engagement approach and prioritize respective activities together with the team in the various ways with key stakeholders in key geographies. The plans made are executed by you in a consistent and rigorous manner and are course-corrected as and when needed. You are able to communicate about those plans with conviction and bring others along.

Pursuit of techno-commercial offering and proposals
You develop a detailed end-to-end understanding of our customer’s needs, our solution offering, its commercial viability and the absolute and relative value proposition compared to competition. Your solution- and customer-orientation ensures maximizing opportunity with a win-win mindset. Based on that, together with our experience colleagues, you develop solutions, mainly technical standards and specifications for key applications that are then to be replicated on customers’ projects within the region and beyond.

Internal Collaboration and Coordination activities
You are a leader and effectively collaborate within an organization across functions and locations, especially on techno-commercial topics. You proactively communicate, thereby bringing others along and take and give feedback. Over time, you develop as an internal expert that is sought after for advice in DC business and beyond. Arranging, leading and following up on workshops, seminars and events is something that would feel natural to you.

What you need is:

  • 4-8 years of Techno-commercial sales negotiation skills and strong track record in business development or sales for engineering products or sales of complete technical solutions
  • Experience in data center construction, especially non-structural applications, the overall industry and ecosystem incl. key stakeholders across APAC
  • Experience in marketing management is a plus
  • Degree in Engineering, Civil / Mechanical is preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and proficiency in English. One additional language spoken in the region a plus (esp. Hindi or Mandarin).
  • Strong intrinsic drive, enthusiasm to learn and drive to succeed
  • High level of independence, conceptual and strategic thinking
