What's the role?

The role of Transportation Logistics Specialist is responsible for partnering with freight forwarders and carriers to execute daily operational tasks relevant to Transportation activities. This position facilitates inbound stock movements from suppliers to re-supply centers, and outbound shipments to regional warehouses and customers while balancing all decision factors between customers, Materials Management, and Warehouse Management to provide excellent service and managing transportation costs.

What does the role involve?

Ensure customer requirements are fulfilled and adhere to Hilti’s Freight Policy and packaging requirements
Prepare and provide all documentation for export shipments
Properly handle incoming phone calls and emails in a timely manner
Cover overflow calls from other Logistics Specialists and provide answers and solutions when possible
Provide invoices for shipments to US, Canada, PR, and Guam from the DCS
Works with customs clearer for LTL exports from DCs
Provides invoices for repair shipments
Manually create invoices and labels for exports for PMs
Enter ICS orders from MMs and coordinate shipments from DCs
Maintain export database for Hilti Tax dept. and US Dept. of Commerce
Coordinate return shipments from HNA to HAG
Familiarize oneself with C-TPAT (Customers Trade partnership Against Terrorism)
Partner with warehouses and carriers
Provide documentation from domestic vendor exports
Review customer complaints for claims and corrective actions
Coordinate and manage carrier claims
Maintain end to end transparency of damaged/lost goods process
Primary driver of efforts to reduce transportation costs while maintaining and improving service levels
Complete transport section for item setup for all new items
Properly ship and provide required paperwork according to the regulatory guidelines based on shipping mode
Additional duties, as assigned

What you need is:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, required
• Demonstrated problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• High customer focus with a demonstrated willingness to take extra steps to satisfy internal and external customer requirements
• Ability to work with Enterprise Requirements Planning systems
• Working knowledge of Transportation Requirements, Distribution Requirements, and Planning/Materials Requirements preferred
• Possess strong knowledge of PC and software applications including MS Office
• Demonstrated verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Comfortable working with strict deadlines
• Must be detail oriented; follow up and organizational skills, preferred

Working Conditions:
Normal office conditions.
Up to 5% travel, required
