What's the role?

The Trade Media Relations Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of a strategic public relations plan based on product and trade priorities, utilizing multiple forms of media and communication to create awareness and influence in the market, through relevant trade media, bloggers, and online influencers.

What does the role involve?

As the Trade Media Relations Specialist, you will develop and execute external trade media communication plans in accordance with local and global initiatives. Your work involves answering media inquiries and conducting proactive media outreach through tool tests, product competitions, feature articles, etc.

You will prepare briefings/talking points for management related to product and trade speaking engagements and monitor competitive media results and communicate essential PR success to the organization.

You will also, secure strategic media and speaking opportunities for Hilti and subject matter experts to increase brand awareness and positioning within the market. As well as conduct internal media training as needed to prepare team members for participation in press related activities (press conferences, interviews, etc.)

What you need is:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required; focus on public relations, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years’ professional experience in PR, Communications, or Marketing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, required
  • Proven ability to develop practical, results-focused marketing communications, required
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with trade media, bloggers, and influencers
  • Keen attention to detail, quality, and proofreading required
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), required
  • Experience with PR management software (Cision or similar), preferred
  • Event planning experience preferred

Combination of normal office conditions with occasional job site and tradeshow visits required.
Up to 10% domestic and international travel, required and can include: Weekend Travel, Short Notice Travel, and Extended stays up to or greater than seven (7) business.
