What's the role?

The Spare Parts Material & Process Manager optimizes material management and Spare Parts handling; including future process development within the Tool Service Business Unit, Tool Service Centers (TSCs), and the Spare Parts Warehouse concerning spare parts management, with the goal to reach the relevant KPIs and to drive customer satisfaction while upholding Hilti’s culture and values. The position is responsible for working with various stake holders in developing and executing product line strategies on supply and order fulfillment.

What does the role involve?

Responsible for serving as first tier of escalation on Spare Parts’ complaints
Develop and maintain reports; summarize and analyze department results
Serve as in-house knowledgeable process expert in SAP processes. Evaluate and improve processes through root-cause analysis and troubleshooting, developing and building configurable items, and setting up production orders and subcontracting, which include maintaining routings and bill of materials
Responsible for the classification and dispersion of Spare Parts with the collaboration of intercompany departments
Responsible for coaching the Tool Service Centers concerning Spare Parts management and optimization of Spare Parts handling
Global Processes: responsible on implementing throughout the network. Constant continuous improvement with reviews, audit and retrain when necessary
Responsible to set-up and control vendor relationships in support of the business on designated product lines
Oversee the activities of the teams within the Fourteen (14) Tool Service Centers to ensure that they follow departmental processes and procedures related to spare parts
Collaborate with Process Experts to develop, test, and implement new supply chain and materials management procedures while working to reduce resources expended to procure and distribute product
Serve as in-house spare parts process expert on SAP system functions, configurable items, production orders, and subcontracting
Manage supplier relationships, contracts, negotiations and adherence to: Logistics requirements, labeling, packaging, supplier portal use and freight policy
Problem identification and resolution including, but not limited to:
- Expediting product with Suppliers to meet customer expectations
- Manual allocation of product to TSC’s to meet service objectives and minimize Backorders
Work with other departments and responsible locally and globally to resolve open issues relating to Spare Parts in SAP
Successfully execute the Purchasing and Distribution plan for approved New Product Introductions (INP’s), and constantly monitor and adjust according to actual consumption rates
Determine and maintain a stock plan for the TSCs and customers including the pruning of items from locations that no longer have adequate usage to support inventory
Ability to manually track and manage the shelf life of dated products at all TSCs to insure proper product rotation and minimize exposure to disposal costs
Manage product phase outs in conjunction with INP’s and/or product pruning
Obsolesce and stock coverage control on Tool Service Centers and RDC SP. Return, and/or Scrap Obsolete products as required
Develop & run queries as necessary to identify and resolve departmental issues
Maintain all items within SAP, enabling and disabling them, as necessary
System optimization including lead times, minimum and fixed lot multiples, safety stocks, sales overrides and events
Daily working on the requisition and steering of the spare parts warehouse and the supply to the Tool Service Centers
Additional duties, as assigned

What you need is:

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Accounting, or Purchasing (or equivalent experience), required
Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ Supply Chain Management experience, required
Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Portuguese), preferred
Proficient with ERP systems including DRP/MRP, Purchasing, and Inventory modules
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high performing team environment. Detail oriented, solid follow-up, analytical, and organizational skills required
Understanding of Marketing principles to facilitate successful implementation of Hilti’s Product Management and Marketing objectives
Proven ability to analyze sales data and make recommendations
Proven ability to problem solve and make decisions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
Strong knowledge of PC and software applications required (MS-Office, SAP-R3, SAP S4/Hana, APO, BI)

Working Conditions:
Combination of normal office and workshop conditions.
Up to 35% domestic & international travel, required

Adverse Work Conditions:
Workshop environment subject to heat, cold, noise, dust, and other particles
Must have the ability to use hand tools and equipment to disassemble and assemble power tools for training sessions

Safety Equipment Required:
Must observe and abide by all safety regulations as required by Hilti and Occupational Health and Safety Standards (OSHA)
Must wear steel toe boots, safety glasses, safety vest, and other safety equipment, as required, when working in the facility and/or operating machinery

Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.
Stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive reaching, bending, and climbing.
Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours daily while performing audits or reviews at tool repairs centers
