What's the role?

The role of Internal Event Marketing Specialist, is responsible for seamless planning, development, and execution of internal events designed to increase awareness of key strategic priorities for Hilti North America (HNA). This position designs, plans, and manages corporate meetings/events varying in size from small to convention type, as defined by the corporate calendar. Additionally, this role will serve as a consultant to other teams planning events; providing coaching and best practice.

What does the role involve?

As the Event Marketing Specialist, you will design, develop, and produce small to large events (3,000+ attendees) from conception to managing execution of program; primary focus on annual meetings, regional manager training and other corporate events, as defined. You will effectively oversee the planning and execution of events while building and maintaining relevant internal and third-party vendor relationships. Includes venue research, evaluation, contract definition and needs and overall ownership. You will also manage planners, producers, content developers, designers, creative services, and vendors to execute program vision and messaging and understand all aspects of planning meetings and events.

The Event Marketing Specialist will deliver results on schedule and on budget, forecasting final expenses and validating variances. You will identify, secure, and manage additional support/needs for programs by enlisting, managing, and maintaining an external Destination management company (DMC) vendor network. You will work with strategic purchasing on vendor selection and contracting, as needed and provide timely communication and progress reports to team involved; work closely with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Management Team (EMT).

As the Event Marketing Specialist, you will serve as a consultant to other teams/departments in the execution of their events and report on measured results of executed events; provide feedback to increase effectiveness for subsequent events/activities. You will actively communicate with and manage stakeholders at all levels; meet defined objectives and generate results.

What you need is:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; marketing or communications-related field of study
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience managing 100+ person meetings
  • Excellent project and time management skills; ability to manage time lines and multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines, required
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of the company, required
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), required
  • Outstanding organizational, detail, and process-oriented skill set, required
  • Ability to manage budgets in accordance with targeted plan
  • Demonstrated ability managing vendor network
  • Adaptable in a constantly changing environment
  • Knowledge on A/V equipment, preferred

Working Conditions:
Normal office conditions with occasional exposure to warehouse and/or jobsite conditions
Up to 20% domestic & international, required and may include:

Weekend Travel
Short Notice Travel
Extended stays up to or greater than seven (7) business days
Adverse Working Conditions:

Job requires walking on construction sites and uneven surfaces, and may include climbing scaffolding, ladders, and stairs during all seasons of the year
Construction jobsites may expose employee to excessively loud noises
May be exposed to extreme temperature (cold/heat)
Safety Equipment Required:

Hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, steel toe boots, and long pants required for working jobsites
Must observe and abide by all safety regulations as required by Hilti, Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (COHSR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and General Contractors
Ear protection is strongly encouraged and may be required on some jobsites
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to walk on construction projects, uneven surfaces, climb scaffolding, ladders, and stairs
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
Ability to package and prepare for location shoots; lift, move, and set up displays and photo shoot equipment as well as machinery/power tools
